Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE) of RUET organised the "Robo-DROID Championship- 2016" in association with EMK Centre for the first time.

This programme was designed to prepare students for international level robotic competition and enhance their skill in advanced robotics.

Besides, the event made a platform for the enthusiasts of Robotics, Electronics, Programming and Mechanics. Also officials from renowned
companies enlightened the event.

In addition to a robotic affairs seminar, there were three competitions-- Line follower robot, Maze Solver Robot and Mobile App-- in the championship with participation of 52 teams from various universities throughout the country.

Acting Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Abdus Sobhan addressed the closing session and distributed prizes and crests among the winners as the chief guest with Prof Dr Abdul Goffar Khan, Coordinator of IEEE, RUET Unit, in the chair.

Dean of Electrical and Computer Science Faculty Prof Rafiqul Islam Sheikh, Prof Anwarul Abedeen from Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology, Gazipur and Representative of Sebran Engineer Abdus Saqui also spoke.

"Importance and area of robotic study and research has gradually been increasing across the world," Prof Abdus Sobhan said, adding that tendency of using robot is mounting in various fields from family to state level.

He said, "Technology is changing very fast and the people with the help of this technology are being upgraded dynamically... RUET has become the platforms through organising innovative events to update not only the students but their surroundings."

The VC hoped that the event will play a pivotal role in preparing and expanding fields of robotic study and research in Bangladesh.
