SIM, smart cards production to be cheaper

Aiming to expedite "digital Bangladesh", the government has proposed to keep the duty tax exemption or concessions to most of the items of information technology sector unchanged.
"This duty tax exemption is proposed to continue in the next year," said finance minister A M A Muhith while placing national budget in the Jatiyo Sangsad today.
"Moreover, duty reduction of some of the inputs used for the manufacture of SIM Cards, Scratch Cards, Credit Cards and other smart cards is proposed in order to support this sector," he added.
CD has been reduced to 15 percent from existing 25 percent at scratch off label for VAT registered SIM or smart card manufacturer as well as at unprinted PVC sheet and PVC coated magstrip.
