Dhaka Folk fest kicks off tonight

Dhaka International Folk Fest 2018 will begin in the capital on Thursday night.
Sun Communications in association with Sun Foundation is organising the festival in the country for the fourth year.
Anjan Chowdhury, chairman of Sun Communications LTD, and Sun Foundation said that their mission is to conserve and patronise the folk genre, making it popular among young people, securing the legal rights of Bangladeshi folk artistes and ensuring royalties due to them through this festival.
The audience can enjoy the performances from 15 to 17 November at Bangladesh Army Stadium.
The three-day festival will take place every day from 6:00pm to 12:00am where 174 artistes from seven countries including Bangladesh have been gathering on one stage to celebrate the music of the heart.
Prominent artistes like Momotaz Begom, Baul Abdul Hai Dewan, Baul Kabir Shah, Arnob, Nakshikatha, Swarobanjo and Bhabna Nritya Dol will be performing from Bangladesh.
Wadali Brothers, The Raghu Dixit Project, Satyaki Banerjee from India, Shafqat Amanat Ali from Pakistan, Majaz from Bahrain, Grammy award winner Los Texmaniacs from the USA, Dikanda from Poland and Las Migas from Spain will come to this bustling city to celebrate the spirit of folk music.
Bhabna, a dance troupe, from Bangladesh will present the inaugural show of the folk fest while Dikanda from Poland, Wadali Brothers from India, Abdul Hai Dewan from Bangladesh, and Satyaki Banerjee will also perform on the first day of the programme.
The audience needs to print their entry pass to enter the festival for respective days.
Telecom service provider Grameenphone will live stream the programme through 'Bioscope Live'.
