A total of 18 militants were killed and eight others injured after the aircrafts targeted Taliban hideouts in Dasht-e-Archi and Chardara districts in Afghan northern Kunduz province Saturday night, an army spokesman in the province, Abdul Khalil said Sunday.
According to the official, a Taliban key commander Mawlawi Wahidullah is also among those killed in the raids.
The official didn't provide more details. It has merit to mention that the U.S. military stationed in Afghanistan usually conducts drone strikes against armed militants in the militancy-hit country.
Mawlawi Wahidullah, according to the official had served as acting
governor for Chardara district and his murder could prove a major setback for the Taliban fighting in Kunduz province.
Taliban militants haven't commented on the report.
